Privacy Policy

Your routines stay yours.

Countly has no account, no advertising and no tracking. This page explains what the app keeps, what it sends, and how to turn sending off.

Last updated October 12, 2026. This policy covers the Countly app for Mac, iPhone and iPad, its desktop widgets, and this website.

  • Your routines are stored on your devices and in your own private iCloud. We can't read them.
  • Usage statistics and crash reports are sent only while the switch in Settings is on. They never include routine names, counts, dates or reminder text.
  • No advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking across other companies' apps or websites.

What stays on your devices

The routines you create, with their names, icons, daily targets, counts, check-ins and history, are stored on your device. Your settings stay on each device: sounds, the floating window, and the usage statistics switch.

On the Mac, the app and its desktop widgets share this data through a container on the same Mac. On iPhone and iPad, reminders are scheduled on the device by the system's notification service; reminder times are not sent to us.

iCloud

Countly syncs your routines and counts between your devices through your private iCloud database, using Apple's CloudKit. This data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account. It is not sent to us, and we have no way to read it. Apple's privacy policy applies to iCloud.

To remove synced data, delete or archive routines in the app, or manage Countly's data under your Apple Account's iCloud storage settings on any of your devices.

Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics)

While the switch is on, Countly sends a small set of fixed events to Google's Firebase Analytics so we can see which features are used:

  • a routine was created, edited, archived or restored;
  • a count went up or down, or a check-in was marked or undone;
  • a screen was opened, such as Today, Insights or Settings;
  • a reminder or sound setting was changed.

Each event records only its kind (check-in or count), what happened, and where in the app it happened, for example the widget or the menu bar. Events never include routine names, numbers, dates, reminder times or anything you type.

Firebase also records the app version, the device model and system version, and an approximate location derived from your IP address, and it ties events to a random identifier for this installation of the app. That identifier isn't your name, email or Apple Account, but because it links events from the same installation, these statistics are pseudonymous rather than fully anonymous. Advertising identifiers are not collected, and advertising features are turned off. Google processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy.

Crash reports (Sentry)

While the switch is on, when Countly or one of its widgets crashes, freezes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a diagnostic report to Sentry. A report contains the technical details needed to find the problem: the error and where it happened in the code, the app version, the device model, the system version and how much memory and storage were in use. Countly also uses system diagnostics from Apple's MetricKit and counts app sessions so we can tell how often crashes happen.

Reports do not include screenshots, the layout of your screen, a log of what you tapped, or network activity. Countly turns off Sentry's collection of personal information and tells Sentry not to record the IP address a report comes from as a user identifier. Reports never include your routines.

The switch

Usage statistics and crash reports are controlled together by Share anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, in Settings under Privacy on iPhone and iPad, and under General on the Mac. Turning it off stops both right away.

On devices set to a region in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the switch starts off and nothing is sent unless you turn it on. Elsewhere it starts on, and you can turn it off at any time.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. Feedback sent from the app includes your Countly version and system version, which you can see and edit before sending. We use this only to answer you. If you post in the Countly Discord, Discord's terms and privacy policy apply there.

This website

countly.willsuo.com is a static website hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site, under its own privacy policy.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or share your data for advertising.
  • We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • We don't ask you to create an account or sign in.
  • We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Keeping and deleting data

Usage statistics and crash reports are kept by Firebase and Sentry for a limited period under their retention settings, and used only to understand and fix Countly. Because they aren't tied to your name or Apple Account, we can't look up reports from a particular person. To stop sending them, turn off the switch described above.

Changes

If what Countly collects changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the App Store.
