FAQ

Frequently asked.

How do I sync between my Mac, iPhone and iPad?

Sign in to iCloud with the same Apple Account on each device and install Countly. Your routines and counts sync on their own; there's nothing to set up in the app.

Countly 3.5 counts by day and stores counts in a new way, so make sure every device is on the latest version. A device still on an older version won't see the counts you make on the others.

What's the difference between a check-in and a count?

It depends on the daily target. A target of 1 makes a check-in: one tap and it's done. A higher target makes a count: add and subtract until you reach it. Change the target in the routine's editor at any time.

Where can I see a routine's all-time total?

On iPhone and iPad, open the routine to see its Total. On the Mac, it's beside each routine in Settings → Routines. You can also turn on Show Total in a routine's editor to see today's count and the total together in the menu bar.

Can I change a past day?

No. Counting and checking in always apply to today. The history calendar shows past days so you can see how they went, but it doesn't edit them.

Are there widgets on iPhone?

Not yet. Widgets are on the Mac: small and medium desktop widgets with their own buttons, on macOS 15.5 or later.

Why don't reminders go off on my Mac?

Reminders belong to iPhone and iPad. Set a time in a routine's editor there and the notification arrives on that device. The Mac shows the setting but doesn't send reminders.

How do I bring back an archived routine?

On the Mac, open Settings → Routines. Archived routines are listed at the bottom, each with a Restore button. Their history is kept while they're archived.

What happened to the keyboard shortcuts and the reset button?

Both were removed in Countly 3.5. Global shortcuts no longer exist; inside the menu bar popover, ⌘N adds a routine and ⌘, opens Settings. Reset went away because counts now start fresh every day on their own.

How do I turn off usage statistics and crash reports?

Turn off Share anonymous usage statistics and crash reports in Settings: under Privacy on iPhone and iPad, or under General on the Mac. The privacy policy explains what they contain.

Which devices does Countly run on?

Macs with macOS 14 or later, and iPhone and iPad with iOS and iPadOS 18 or later. Desktop widgets need macOS 15.5 or later.
